Annotation:In this work, a vector three-dimensional inverse problem of diffraction by a cylindrical body is solved based on a two-step method. The scatterer is filled with an inhomogeneous nonmagnetic dielectric material. The initial boundary value problem for the system of Maxwell’s equations is reduced to a system of integro-differential equations. A numerical method for solving the equation of the first-kind, entering into the system, in special classes of functions is described. A distinctive feature of the proposed numerical method is its non-iterative nature; in addition, a good initial approximation is not required for the two-step method for solving the inverse problem. The calculation results are presented. It is shown that the two-step method is an efficient approach to solving vector problems of microwave tomography.

Annotation:At present, the Pocklington integro-differential equation and the Gallen integral equations are one of the main mathematical instruments used in modelling of electric vibrators with various topologies. When deriving these equations, several physical assumptions have been made. In particular, it was assumed that the current values at the ends of the vibrator are equal to zero. In this article, we determine the values of ratio “gap width/vibrator length,” for which this assumption is admissible.

Annotation:Boundary value problems for the system of Maxwell’s equations are fundamental in electrodynamics. Recently, interest has arisen in problems with the presence of a thin graphene layer on the surface, which changes the field-matching conditions. In this paper, an integro-differential equation is obtained for a vector boundary value problem of diffraction of an electromagnetic wave by a graphene-coated inhomogeneous dielectric body. The existence and uniqueness of a solution of the integro-differential equation, which can be called a surface-volume equation, is proved.

Annotation:We consider a nonlinear eigenvalue problem of the Sturm–Liouville type on an interval with boundary conditions of the first kind. The problem describes the propagation of polarized electromagnetic waves in a plane two-layer dielectric waveguide. The cases of a homogeneous and an inhomogeneous medium are studied. The existence of infinitely many positive and negative eigenvalues is proved.
