Compression and Noise-tolerant Coding in Data Transmission in Non-invasive Electrocardiodiagnostic System

Annotation: Due to the large territorial extent of our country the task of compression and transmission of medical information of different nature occupies one of the key places in providing the population with quality medical care. It should be noted that the algorithms of data compression without quality loss should be executed not only on common desktop computer architectures, but also on various specialized platforms used, for example, in portable medical biopotential recorders. Therefore, the task of developing and researching methods of non-distorting compression of medical data is an urgent scientific and applied task due to the development and improvement of computing technology. To achieve this purpose, it is necessary to solve the following tasks: analysis of existing methods of compression of transmitted data in biotelemetric systems on the example of electrocardio-signal compression; selection of a method of compression of transmitted data in biotelemetric systems on the example of electrocardio-signal compression. For biotelemetric system as a radio-technical and information-measuring system the main indicators are measurement error and reliability of data transmission. The paper presents the structural scheme of the biotelemetric system, it is based on the structure of the developed distributed cardiodiagnostic system and its communication channel, the methods of data compression based on redundancy reduction and wavelet transformation are considered. The capabilities of compression methods were analyzed and the compression ratio was calculated. As a result of this study, it is found that wavelet transform of data is more preferable to standard communication protocol for computer assisted electrocardiography for transmission examination data in biotelemetric systems.
