As a result of studying the discipline, students acquire knowledge about the frequency and causes of injuries and diseases of the human musculoskeletal system; modern diagnosis of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system; Modern methods of treating injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system; the main issues of injury, the organization of trauma and orthopedic care in Russia; classification of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system; frequency, causes, mechanisms of injuries of the musculoskeletal system; general principles of treatment of the effects of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system; the most common complications in traumatology and orthopedics and methods for their prevention.
On the basis of acquired knowledge, the ability to diagnose traumatic damage to any segment of the human musculoskeletal system is formed; assess the severity of the condition and arrange for staged medical care for a patient with polytrauma; provide emergency and medical assistance to the injured in case of injury; solve questions about the place and tactics of further treatment of the patient; to determine indications for classical methods of treatment of typical injuries of the musculoskeletal system, complications and most common orthopedic diseases; do classical procaine blockade and anesthesia of the fracture site; perform immobilization in various cases of damage to the limbs; apply simple plaster cast, remove plaster cast, be able to apply glue traction to the child, skeletal traction, remove glue and skeletal traction; to outline the main medical measures aimed at preventing and reducing injuries and acquired orthopedic diseases.
Acquired skills in proficiency in the examination of a traumatological and orthopedic patient, being able to distinguish between the physiological norm and pathology; methods of dealing with bleeding, asphyxia, shock in case of injuries of the musculoskeletal system; using the simplest types of immobilization technique for injuries of the segments, torso and head.
