"Hospital Surgery, Pediatric Surgery"
The total labor output of the discipline is 10 credits, 360 hours.
The goal of mastering the discipline "Hospital Surgery, Pediatric Surgery" is to obtain knowledge in the field of differential diagnosis and surgical tactics for various manifestations and development of surgical diseases and their complications.
The objectives of studying the disciplines "Hospital surgery, pediatric surgery" are as follows:
- teaching students to recognize advanced clinical signs, symptoms and syndromes during patient examination,
- teaching students the most important methods of clinical, laboratory and instrumental diagnostics, allowing to justify the tactics of managing patients with surgical pathologies and to choose the most rational modern treatment method depending on the nature of the development of a disease and its complications;
- teaching students to choose modern optimal laboratory and instrumental examination methods for surgical diseases and the compilation of differential diagnosis algorithms, based on the latest scientific and technological achievements;
- training to implement modern comprehensive medical, rehabilitation and preventive measures among patients with various nosological forms of diseases; teaching students to choose modern optimal medical treatment regimens for the most common surgical diseases.
The discipline "Hospital surgery, pediatric surgery" refers to the base part of block C1 of the discipline. Hospital surgery, pediatric surgery is one of the basic disciplines interconnected with the following disciplines: human anatomy, histology, embryology, cytology, biology, normal physiology, pathophysiology, clinical pathophysiology, biochemistry, topographic anatomy and operative surgery, morbid anatomy, clinical morbid anatomy, general surgery, diagnostic radiology, faculty surgery.
The main provisions of the discipline "Hospital surgery, pediatric surgery" are necessary to study the fundamental and clinical disciplines: pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, urology, traumatology and orthopedics. The process of studying the discipline is aimed at the formation of the following competencies:
- readiness to collect and analyze patients’ complaints, their medical history, examination results, laboratory, instrumental, pathological and other examinations in order to recognize the condition or establish the presence or absence of a disease (SPC-5);
- the ability to determine patient's main pathological conditions, symptoms, syndromes of diseases, nosological forms in accordance with the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Problems Related (SPC-6).
- the ability to determine management tactics for patients with various nosological forms (SPC - 8).
During the study of the discipline "Hospital surgery", students learn the rules of collecting and analyzing patients’ complaints, their medical history, examination results, laboratory, instrumental and pathological, other examinations in order to recognize the condition or establish the fact of the presence or absence of a disease, the principles of detection in surgical patients main pathological conditions, symptoms, syndromes of diseases, nosological forms in accordance with the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems; the principles of differential diagnosis of surgical diseases that occur in various forms
Based on the acquired knowledge, students obtain the abilities to collect and analyze patients’ complaints, medical history, examination results, laboratory, instrumental, pathological and other examinations in order to recognize the state or establish the presence or absence of a disease, to identify the main pathological conditions, symptoms in surgical patients, syndromes of diseases, nosological forms in accordance with the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems; to prescribe treatment to patients with a surgical disease occurring in various forms, taking into account a differential diagnosis.
Students develop the skills in collecting and analyzing patients’ complaints, medical history, examination results, laboratory, instrumental, pathological and other examinations in order to recognize the condition or establish the presence or absence of a disease, the skills in determining the main pathological conditions, symptoms, syndromes in surgical patients diseases, nosological forms in accordance with the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and RelatedHealth Problems, a treatment algorithm for surgical patients, taking into account a differential diagnosis.
