“Particular issues of diagnostics in cardiology”
Specialty – 31.05.01 General Medicine
The total labor output of the discipline is 2 credits, 72 hours.

The goal of mastering the discipline "Particular issues of diagnostics in cardiology" is to master modern diagnostic methods in cardiology, necessary in differential diagnosing of diseases of the cardiovascular system, monitoring the effectiveness of therapy and dynamic monitoring of patients. The objectives of studying the discipline "Particular issues of diagnostics in cardiology" are to form the ability to work with medical and technical equipment, to analyze and interpret the results of electrocardiography, transesophageal electrical stimulation of the heart, to be able to prescribe adequate treatment in accordance with the identified changes, to assess its results. The discipline "Particular issues of diagnostics in cardiology" refers to the variable part of block C1 of the discipline. "Particular issues of diagnostics in cardiology" is one of the disciplines at the student’s choice, which is interconnected with the following disciplines: anatomy; biology; biochemistry; histology, embryology, cytology; normal human physiology; propaedeutics of internal diseases, diagnostic radiology; faculty therapy, occupational diseases.
The process of studying the discipline is aimed at the formation of the following competences:
  • the ability and readiness to implement a set of measures aimed at maintaining and improving health and including promotion of a healthy lifestyle, preventing the onset and (or) spread of diseases, their early diagnosis, identifying the causes and conditions of their occurrence and development, as well as aimed at elimination of the harmful effects of environmental factors on human health (SPC-1); 
  • readiness to collect and analyze patients’ complaints, their medical history, examination results, laboratory, instrumental, pathological and other studies in order to recognize a condition or establish the presence or absence of a disease (SPC-5).
     
During the study of the discipline "Particular issues of diagnostics in cardiology", students learn an algorithm for decrypting the data obtained during ECG, CM-ECG, TECS; normal data indicators of these examination methods; possible causes of heart rhythm disturbances; definitions of life-threatening arrhythmias and the sequence of actions of a doctor in identifying them. Based on the acquired knowledge, students obtain the abilities to determine indications for conducting CM-ECG and TECS; to instruct patients about the way of conduct during the examination period, to explain the goals and objectives of the measures taken; to identify situations related to the need for emergency care for patients with acute conditions; to give a differential diagnosis of various pathological conditions, to determine the tactics of further diagnostic examination; to correctly decipher the dynamic ECG in the normal condition and with various types of disorders. Students develop the skills in interpreting examination data to solve professional problems; preparing medical documentation reflecting the progress and outcome of examinations, approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation; evaluating the effectiveness of corrective measures.
 
Types of educational work: practical classes, unsupervised work. The study of the discipline ends with a pass-fail test.
