Abstract of the discipline program "Life safety"
 
Total labor intensity of the discipline is 7 credit units, 252 hours.
The purpose of developing Life safety is the formation of a safety culture, readiness and ability of a graduate in the specialty of General Medicine for work in emergency situations of peacetime.
The objectives of the study are: to understand the problems and risks associated with human life; to have knowledge about the nature and development of emergency situations, accidents, accidents and structural components of the Russian system for preventing and eliminating the consequences of emergency situations; to have knowledge of the system of medical and sanitary provision of the population in emergency situations and the ability to organize the provision of first, first-aid and first medical assistance in emergency situations of civil and military time; the formation of a culture of professional security, the ability to identify safety and assess risks in their professional activities; formation of readiness for participation in carrying out measures to protect the population and medical personnel in peacetime and wartime; formation of the ability and readiness for the organization of medical and sanitary provision of the population in the aftermath of emergency situations of natural, man-made, road-transport, explosive and fire-dangerous character.
The training discipline Life safety refers to the basic part of the C1 block.
 
 
The process of studying the discipline is aimed at the formation of the following competencies:
 
  • Ability to abstract thinking, analysis, synthesis (GEC-1).
  • Ability  to  work  in  unusual  situations,  readiness  to  bear  social  and ethical responsibility for the made decisions (GEC-4)
  • Readiness to use methods of first-aid treatment, protection methods in the conditions of emergency situations (GEC-7)
  • Readiness to solve standard problems of professional activity with use of information, bibliographic resources, medicobiological terminology, information and communication technologies and accounting of the main requirements of information security (GPC-1)
  • Ability and readiness to analyze results of own activity for prevention of professional mistakes (GPC-5)
  • Readiness for application of the medical products provided by orders of delivery of health care (GPC-11)
  • Readiness  for  participation  in  delivery  of  health  care  at  emergency, including to participation in medical evacuation (SPC-13).
  • Ability  to  the  organization  of  medical  care  at  emergency  situations, including medical evacuation (SPC-19).
 
In the course of studying the discipline Life safety students learn the following knowledge: about rational conditions of human activity for maintaining optimal interaction in the "human-machine-environment" system; on the legal, regulatory, technical and organizational foundations of the Belarusian Railway; on the damaging factors of natural disasters, major industrial accidents and disasters with the release of radioactive substances and chemically hazardous substances into the atmosphere, modern means of destruction, harmful and dangerous production factors; on the anatomical and physiological consequences of human exposure to traumatic, harmful and dangerous damaging factors; on methods of forecasting and assessment of emergency situations; on the procedures and content of the work of managers of enterprises, institutions, organizations, regardless of their organizational and legal form, as well as their units for managing the actions of subordinates in the emergency situation in accordance with the specialty they receive.
On the basis of acquired knowledge, skills are formed: create conditions for a comfortable (normative) state of the environment in the areas of work and leisure; predict the impact of negative damaging factors and assess the consequences of their impact; to develop and implement measures to protect people and the environment from negative impacts; to monitor parameters and levels of negative impacts on their compliance with regulatory requirements; to develop measures to improve the safety and environmental performance of production; plan and implement measures to improve the sustainability of production systems and facilities; plan activities to protect production personnel and the population in emergency situations and, if necessary, take part in emergency rescue and other urgent work.
Acquired skills of mastering the culture of thinking, the ability to generalize, analyze, perceive information, set goals and choose ways to achieve it; willingness to cooperate with colleagues, work in a team; the ability to find organizational and managerial decisions in non-standard situations and the willingness to bear responsibility for them; ability to use normative legal documents in their activities; aspiration to self-development, increase of the qualification and skill, ability to change as necessary a profile of the professional activity, ability to social adaptation; the ability to analyze socially significant problems and processes; the ability to use the skills of working with information from various sources to solve professional and social problems; the main methods of protecting production personnel and the public from the possible consequences of accidents, disasters, natural disasters.
Types of educational work: lectures, practical classes, independent work.
