Educational discipline C.1.2.7 "Immunology" refers to the professional cycle C.1.
Immunology builds on the knowledge gained in the course of the study courses of biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics. Competencies acquired during the study of immunology prepares students for the development of professional competencies.
Main provisions of discipline should be used for further study of clinical disciplines (epidemiology, infectious diseases , dermatovenerology , tuberculosis , etc.)
The objectives of the development of the discipline " Immunology " are students with fundamental knowledge on the structure and functions of the immune system of an adult , her age features , mechanisms of development and operation , the main methods of immunoassay , methods for assessing the immune status and indications for use immunotropic therapy.
Discipline aimed at creating a common cultural and professional competence:
GEC-1- abstract thinking, logical analysis and synthesis skills.
SPC-1 - be able to perform the scope of measures aimed at protecting and promoting the health and safety of the public, including fostering healthy lifestyle, prevention of the diseases and their treatment, early diagnostic of medical conditions, their causes and conditions of their development, elimination of harmful environmental factors.
SPC–2 - be ready to perform prophylactic medical check-ups, public health examination and health surveys.
SPC–5 - be able to analyse patients complaints and medical history, results of medical examinations, laboratory tests, special equipment diagnostics and others so as to determine the presence or absence of pathologies, medical disorders and diseases.
In the course of studying the discipline " Immunology " students learn knowledge on the structure and function of the immune system in children and adolescents , its age characteristics , mechanisms of development and operation of the main methods of immunoassay methods immune status assessment and indications for use immunotropic therapy .
On the basis of the knowledge generated to justify the need for the ability of clinical and immunological examination of the patient, to interpret the results of immunological studies , conduct serological diagnosis of infectious diseases.
Setting skills acquired preliminary diagnosis based on the results of laboratory examination of children and adolescents who use the basic immune response to the detection of antibodies in the serum of patients with the diagnosis of infectious diseases.
The results of development of the discipline " Immunology " achieved by the use in the learning process the following types of educational technologies:
- lectures using multimedia technology;
- conducting laboratory studies using microscopic techniques;
- conducting control activities in the form of colloquiums;
- individual counseling teacher in performing tasks on laboratory activities and group counseling before testing for each section of the discipline;
- independent work of students with visual aids;
- involvement of students in research work (s mug, participation in conferences, competitions, etc.).
Sessions conducted in an interactive way , using interactive technologies account for 30 % of classes.
Total labor discipline is 3 credits units ( 108 hours ).
Duration of study of discipline - one semester.
