Physiology of functional systems

Annotation
on the academic discipline "Physiology of functional systems"
studied in the framework of the Basic Professional Educational Program
31.05.01 "General Medicine"

The purpose of studying the discipline "Physiology of functional systems" is the formation of professional competences:
GEC-1 The ability to abstract thinking, analysis, synthesis;
GPC-9  The ability to evaluate morphological and functional, physiological and pathological processes in the human body for decision of professional tasks.
In the course of studying the discipline "Physiology of functional systems" students acquire knowledge of anatomo-physiological and psychological features of the person, outstanding figures of medicine and development of medical science; learn morphofunctional features of adults’ muscular and nervous tissue, blood, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, secretory systems, central and peripheral nervous systems, touch systems and endocrine glands.
On the basis of the acquired knowledge the following skills are formed: the ability to analyze and reveal problems of the person during the different age periods connected with the lack of knowledge and skills in the field of health promption; the ability to use anatomo-physiological bases and to estimate morphofunctional and physiological condition of a human body, to differentiate muscular tissue, parts of the central nervous system and heart, vessels, blood cells, respiratory tract, nephron divisions.
The skills of mastering of a medicobiological conceptual apparatus are gained.
The results of mastering the discipline "Physiology of functional systems" are achieved through the use of lectures, classroom studies and out-of-class work of students in the course of training.
Teaching of the discipline is based on application of the following types of educational technologies: lectures with use of multimedia technologies; seminars in the form of group discussions and case studies; solution of the situational problems; computer testing according to the sections of the discipline;
The academic discipline "Physiology of functional systems refers to a variable part of the C1 block.
"Physiology of functional systems" is one of disciplines which is interconnected with disciplines: "Human anatomy", "Histology, embryology, cytology", "Normal physiology", "Biochemistry". The main provisions of the discipline should be used in the further studying of the following disciplines: "Pathophysiology, clinical pathophysiology", "Pathological anatomy, clinical pathological anatomy", "Pharmacology", "Microbiology, virology", "Immunology".
