The goal of mastering the discipline is to know the organization, legal aspects of the standards of medical care and other capacities of the modern specialized anesthesiology and resuscitation service, to train the basic methods of pain relief during painful procedures and interventions, as well as for the relief of acute and chronic pain syndromes; to develop the skills in conducting a specialized complex of resuscitation measures for clinical death and terminal conditions in adults; to use modern intensive care methods in assisting patients and victims in critical conditions of various etiologies.

The objectives of studying the discipline "Anesthesiology, resuscitation, intensive care" are:

  1. to study the theoretical provisions of anesthesiology and intensive care as a fundamental medical science related to the field of medicine.
  2. to learn the methodology of diagnosing critical conditions and the methodology of providing the principles of emergency care.
  3. to get familiar with modern methods of anesthesia, to be able to determine the appropriateness of the types of anesthesiological support in relation to various types of pathological conditions
  4. to learn to identify pathological signs, to analyze the causes of their appearance, to develop a sequence of actions in the diagnostics and correction of critical and emergency conditions.
  5. to learn to state information about patients and their illnesses in a logical sequence, to correctly draw up medical documentation.

The discipline "Anesthesiology, resuscitation, intensive care" refers to the base part of block C1 of the discipline.

The main provisions of the discipline are based on the comprehensive coordination of the teaching of "Anesthesiology, resuscitation, intensive care" with clinical disciplines. "Anesthesiology, resuscitation, intensive care" is a medical discipline the main content of which is the theoretical substantiation and practical development of methods for protecting the body from extreme impact due to surgical interventions and in critical, life-threatening conditions.
The process of studying the discipline is aimed at the formation of elements of the following competences in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education in this specialty:

  • SPC-5 - readiness to collect and analyze patients’ complaints, their medical history, examination results, laboratory, instrumental, pathological, anatomical and other examinations in order to recognize the condition or establish the presence or absence of a disease.
  • SPC-6 - the ability to determine patient's main pathological conditions, symptoms, disease syndromes, nosological forms in accordance with the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th revision.
  • SPC-8 - the ability to determine the tactics of managing patients with various nosological forms.
  • SPC-11 - readiness to provide emergency medical care in conditions requiring urgent medical intervention.

 The total labor output of the discipline is 3 credits, 108 hours.
