The general labor input of discipline is 7 test units, 252 hours. 

The purpose of mastering the discipline "Hygiene" is the formation of readiness to implement a set of measures of primary and secondary prevention in the practical activities of the Medical  doctor, with the goal of strengthening people's health. 

The tasks of studying hygiene are: mastering the theoretical foundations of discipline for a proper understanding of the interaction of environmental factors and the human body in the conditions of professional activity and the population's living; mastering the methods of sanitary and hygienic research to obtain objective information about the living conditions of the population and the professional activities of individual professional groups; acquisition of skills of preventive and current sanitary supervision at various sites; hygienic education and the formation of a healthy lifestyle. 

The discipline "Hygiene" is included in the basic part of the C1 block of the discipline. 

Hygiene is one of the basic disciplines that is interconnected with disciplines: jurisprudence, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, virology. 

The basic provisions of hygiene are necessary for the study of disciplines: public health and public health, therapy, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and infectious diseases. 

Competences (parts of competencies), formed in the process of studying the discipline: 

  • be able to perform the scope of measures aimed at protecting and promoting the health and safety of the public, including fostering healthy lifestyle, prevention of the diseases and their treatment, early diagnostic of medical conditions, their causes and conditions of their development, elimination of harmful environmental factors (SPC-1); 
  • be ready to apply methods of public health monitoring and methods of medical statistical analysis of public health data (SPC-4); 
  • be ready to apply the standards of healthcare management in medical institutions of various levels (SPC-17); 
  • be ready to assist in evaluating the quality healthcare services with the use of medical statistical indicators and data(SPC-18). 

 During studying of discipline "Hygiene" students acquire knowledge of the doctrine of health of children's and adult population and methods of its conservation; about relationship the doctor patient and "doctor relatives"; outstanding figures of medicine and health care; outstanding medical opening; fundamentals of the preventive medicine referred on strengthening of health of the population; sanitary and hygienic demands to the device, the organization and an operating mode of infectious diseases hospitals; sanitary and hygienic demands to the organization of treatment and prevention facilities; hygienic problems of the sanitary and medical  help working in the industry; fundamentals of the preventive medicine referred on strengthening of health of the population; bases of use of methods of evidential medicine at assessment of the state of health of citizens; principles of the legislation of the Russian Federation; the main normative and technical documents on public health care. 

On the basis of the acquired knowledge abilities to analyze and estimate the state of health of the population and influence of factors of a way of life on it, environment factors are formed; organizations of disease-prevention service to the population; holding preventive actions for rising of resilience of an organism to adverse factors of the external environment with use of various methods of hardening; promotion of a healthy lifestyle; maintaining medical documentation of various character. 

The student is trained in the following professional skills: interpretation of the results of a laboratory study of sanitary and hygienic parameters of living quarters, educational and medical institutions; interpretation of the results of a laboratory study of water, food, assessment of their suitability for use; methods of assessing the individual and organized nutrition of the adult and children's population, the human food status; methods of assessing the effectiveness of dispensary observation; methods for assessing the parameters of the microclimate; methods of sanitary examination; methods of conducting educational work; analysis of normative and reference documentation, keep records and records in medical institutions; algorithm of organization of epidemiological surveillance of nosocomial infection in medical organizations; methods of assessing the quality of care.  

Types of study: lectures, practical training, independent work.  

Studying of discipline comes to an end with exam .
