on the academic discipline "Normal Physiology"
studied in the framework of the Basic Professional Educational Program
31.05.01 "General Medicine"
The purpose of studying the discipline "Normal Physiology" is the formation of general professional competence:
GEC-1 The ability to abstract thinking, analysis, synthesis.
GPC-9 The ability to evaluate morphological and functional, physiological and pathological processes in the human body for decision of professional tasks.
In the course of studying the discipline "Normal Physiology" students learn the basics of a healthy lifestyle, the content of the concepts "health", "quality of life", "disease risk factors", anatomical, physiological and psychological characteristics of a person, outstanding figures in medicine and the development of medical science; recognize the morphofunctional features of the muscular, nervous tissue, blood, cardiovascular, respiratory, blood, digestive, excretory systems, central and peripheral nervous systems, sensory systems and endocrine glands in adults.
Based on the acquired knowledge, the following skills are formed: to analyze and identify human problems in different age periods associated with a lack of knowledge and skills in the field of health promotion; use sports and recreational activities to promote health, achieve life and professional goals; the ability to use the anatomical and physiological basis and evaluate the morphofunctional and physiological state of the human body, differentiate muscle tissue, parts of the central nervous system, the heart, blood vessels, blood cells, respiratory tract, nephron divisions.
The working abilities of using the medical and biological conceptual apparatus; the basics of working with scientific and technical information on medical topics; the basics of the analysis the results of clinical, laboratory and instrumental methods of examining patients; skills of elementary analysis of the hemogram, electrocardiogram, spirogram, determination of blood group membership, study of reflex activity and typological features of a person are acquired.
These results of mastering the discipline "Normal Physiology" are achieved through the use in the process of study interactive methods and technologies for generating these competencies in students:
- Lectures with the use of multimedia technologies;
- Practical work, using video films and computer simulations;
- Interviews in the form of group discussions and case studies;
- The solution of situational problems;
- Conducting colloquiums;
- Computer testing on the discipline sections;
- Individual work with literature.
The academic discipline "Normal physiology" refers to the basic part of the C1 block.
Normal physiology is based on the knowledge obtained during the study of the following disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, Human Anatomy, Histology, Cytology, Embryology. Competencies acquired during the study of physiology, prepare the student for development of professional competencies. The main provisions of the discipline should be used in further studying of the following disciplines: "Pharmacology", "Pathophysiology, clinical Pathophysiology", clinical disciplines.
Competencies, acquired during the study of «Normal Physiology», prepare the student for mastering professional competence.
The total complexity of the discipline is 8 credit units.
The duration of the study of the discipline is two semesters.
